The hotel is centrally located, and offers free wifi in the lobby. There is no way this is a five star or even four star hotel. Our room was supposed to be non-smoking, but reeked of smoke and the bed was quite uncomfortable. The hotel was generally worn, from the lobby, which at first glance looked stylish, but upon closer inspection was run down. The helpfulness of the staff varied widely, and I did not appreciate the snickers from the woman at the front desk when I, rather than my husband, handed her a credit card to pay.
Near the airport, large and very well appointed room, we booked a sea view room and thought it well worth it, superlative breakfast including an orange squeezing machine and Cretan specialites with a notice saying what they were. Central location including proximity to the Archeolgical Museum (which is shut for rebuilding and a tempory exhibition of "highlights" is underwhelming). Being presented with the visa receipt after OK-ing bill and asked to fill in the "Tip" box. I had tipped appropriately as we went and I found this a little grasping
This is an excellent hotel in a very convenient location for sight-seeing. Everything is nearby and close to the waterfront. The staff is friendly and helpful. A bit pricey bu you would probably expect that for a five-star hotel.
Old furniture, bad smell. This is not 5-star hotel for sure.
The staff were great & with a smile on their face. The Porter Con was absolutely fantastic (keep up your great service Con) & so were the reception staff. The Breakfast buffet had great selection. The motel was very clean & comfortable, close to restaurants & shops & also the port. We will stay there again. no
Excellent breakfast Very poor quality for money. Impossible to sleep because of noise from airplanes, cars passing in the street with very loud radios on all night, noisy motorbikes and so on. Depressing furniture. Poor view. Depressing surroundings.
Location was good for being close to the port, but the walk up a fairly steep hill with luggage has put me off from stying here again. Lack of communication about the breakfast that was included in the room rate, we were advised we could have our breakfast in our room but was then charged full rate for doing so
Ideal situation/location of hotel. Reception staff initially not very welcoming.
This is not a 5 star hotel. Hwo is responsible for evaluation?? I will not recommend to pay as 5-star hotel to anyone.
The breakfast and the Hotel receptionist very helpful!!!!!! The rooms were poor and aren't to 5 star standards!!!!!
Everything. Breakfast was especially good. Staff very helpful. Nothing negative. A bit pricey but that is what you expect for a five star hotel.
Helpful staff, good food, comfortable room, ease of access to airport
Good location near ferry/port area and city, helpful staff, valet parking, great breakfast, excellent harbour view from seaview rooms, worth paying a bit extra.
The staff and the service. Breakfast was excellent. Older than I expected.
The food was very good. Location convenient for central Heraklion and handy for the bus station and airport. Also has good view over the harbour, although this isn't exactly picturesque! Good place to stay a night whilst waiting for a plane or boat to go somewhere else. Bedroom was cramped for 2 people. Balcony extremely small. It's also under the flypath for the airport.
We chose a Room with sea view and the view was really beautiful. The staff was always nice and very helpful.
friendly, helpful staff, very comfortable room, free internet access, good breakfast buffet
We booked based on the location, but were delightfully pleased by the overall comfort and cleanliness of the facility.
Helpfulness of the front desk staff on arrival No
The beds were the most comfortable in all of the hotels that we stayed in, while in Crete. We had a beautiful view of the harbour and a nice walking distance to the shops. The pictures of the hotel really show what the hotel is like.
Cozy room, harbor view, balcony, friendly and knowledgeable staff A bit self-consciously overdesigned
Staff was very helpful, buffet breakfast was great with lots of choices. Location was good for exploring Heraklion. Maybe just a bit overpriced.
the willingness of the receptionist to assist us in all we requested. the old carpet in our room had a bad smell.
We arrived early but were allowed into our room. Staff were helpful and friendly. We stayed for only one night ahead of our flight but would happily return for longer. Five minutes walk from bus station and three main museums. Excellent breakfast included in price.
I liked the closeness to the main walking mall. Would of liked some tea & coffee making facility in our rooms,
convenience, near the main road, ferry the mattress is bad, sleep is not good, breakfast is so so
Location was perfect, near port and near main street.. Mattress is very bad, I got back pain when I stayed in this hotel for total six nights. Water was not hot enough. No free internet was inconvenience
Large room, excellent facilities and helpfulness of staff, especially as only 2 star. Really good value for money. 5 minutes walk from all central points in Herakleio. Slight difficulty finding by car but parking available at the hotel.
The fact we were upgraded for a club suite on arrivval and everything is brand new, clean, with good service. would like to reccomend anastasia on reception who was cocktails at the bar were bad
we loved everything. Pool looked and was fantastic. Whole hotel was really beautiful nad staff friendly and welcoming no - loved it all
Great hotel. Excellent staff, especially wait staff. Really comfortable beds. Nice hotel which I'd recommend.
The hotel facilities were new, but the location was a bit far from the center. NO
Good location, easy to find. Breakfast was a buffet with everything, excellent. Liked the balcony, busy street below to watch but some traffic noise when trying to sleep. For some reason they have 2 single beds pushed together instead of a king or queen.
Awesome stay, friendly staff, clean and upscale
entrance, reception, facilities, location, very very small room and bathroom like in Ibis hotel, waitress in bar not very kind to customers, breakfast not enough big for 5 stars hotel
Excellent facilities. Staff can be friendlier in their service and less automative. Staff should learn how to smile more and show more warmth and friendliness.
hotel staff eager small rooms
The staff were very friendly The website said the hotel had facilities that it didnt have eg.pay tv , day spa and wellness centre , 24hour room service
The staff is very helpful, professional and quick. The hotel is brand new, nice and clean. Good Gym. Very good breakfast.
Since the recent renovation, the quality of rooms is outstanding. Breakfasts and bar menu excellent. The standards of service and staff friendliness are exceptionally good.
We wanted a hotel that was located near the airport. It was very convenient. The staff was exceptionally helpful. The room was clean. Great value The neighborhood was a bit hinky, as can be expected near an airport. Difficult to find decent food, especially if you didn't care to drive.
We were delayed on the ferry from Mykonos and booked this hotel at the last minute so we wouldn't have to drive to our timeshare at midnight. We arrived after 11 p.m, not expecting much. We were happy to be met by a very enthusiastic and nice receptionist, and we could still get something to eat--a terrific omelet, by the way. There was a bar too. Our room was great! I highly recommend this family-owned hotel.
Easy to find, close to airport, nice pool, 10 mins driving from city center
Location 3 mins from the airport The planes fly most of the night!
the location the hotel should propose a free shuttle to/from the airport.
Friendliness of staff in this Family Hotel ,convenient for airport. Free internet, good BBQ evening meals - nothing too much trouble. Very hard beds
I chose the hotel for one night purely because of its proximity to Heraklion airport (5-10 minutes by car) as my flight was late in the evening. Noise from aircraft, although it was expected.
The cleanliness, the quietness and the nearness to the airport No curtain for the bath, poor breakfast
Attitude of staff is very nice; good swimming pool! Noisy in night from airplane
The staff were courteous, and helpful and spoke or understood English very well, which was helpful to us, because we were tired. We only stayed one night so can not comment on other matters. The hotel was a high standard and comfortable for our transition, to our holiday desination.
Close to the airport Very loud (airport, street). If you have an early or late flight and only stay for one night it's ok, but not for a longer vacation.
easy access. easy parking. comfortable rooms. very good breakfast.
Location Cleaness, service
Good breakfast, hotel is located right at the beach, quiet place
Close to the beach. Excellent breakfast Small room. Missing seaview, expensive!
The building, the hard wood floors, the breakfast, people were nice. There were very few people working ! there was no one at the front door when we arrived and we had to walk to the receprtion to tell them we needed someone for our luggage... they send a girl(a waitress) to pick them up!!! I felt bad for her. There was something uncomfortable about how the ground floor was designed , the location of the reception behind all these glass doors!
Great service, nice room. Noisy at times as located in the proximity of the airport. Then again so is almost all of Heraklion and the windows keep out most of the noise. The step up chair provided in front of the bathtub to climb in and use as a shower is a nice touch but I prefer a separate shower without the climbing exercise.
A luxury hotel with excellent staff and fantastic food. Located near marina, port and easy walk to shops, museums etc.
Excellent, helpful and friendly service. Immaculate presentation Dinner was average - not up to standard set by the rest of the hotel
Perfect location in the heart of the city next to bus terminal . Friendly multilingual staff. Luxurious atmosphere.
The hotle is very well situated with near access to 25th of August St. and the Market. The view of the venetian castle and harbor from from the hotel is dreammy. The hotel itself is very designer modern inside while classic outside. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. The salads were very good at the roof top restaurant. They arranged for timely transportation to Knossos and the airport. My only bad experience was a group of very roudy Japanese tourists which may have had too much to drink and woke me up at 12:30 a.m. on my last night here. Otherwise, this was a perfect stay.
Good hotel nice staff perfect location to start and finisch your trip to crete, next to harbour and airport, no noise and relaxed atmosphere nice breakfast
mainly the location should improve bathroom cleaning
The hotel was good located and it was confortable. The personnel was friendly and the room and the badroom were big enough. Little details were not improved, as the light in the badroom or the doors of the rooms. It seems to be an old hotel, renovated and definetly clean kept. The outside facade needs some improvement, but at this time, it seems that most of the houses of Heraklion need paint.
Breakfast was great. The bathroom was horrible. The shower area is the smallest in the world!!
access to the city view from 5th floor Value for money A two bedroom room priced as a three bedroom Room facilities Cleanliness Bathroom Lack of fridge Lack of curtains
The 5-th floor terrasse with beautiful view (sea and city walls). The space in the room. Other reviewers have complained about the noise, but at the 3th floor window & store closed, it was no problem for me. The weakness of the global artificial lighting in the room (not comfortable to read except lying on the bed...)
The restaurant food was first class
Breakfast View Cleanliness Room facilities Bathroom
The service was pleasing and the accomodation was comfortable. Nothing we did not like.
clean & good breakfast The noise from streets make sleep difficult.
I arrived late and could not get a taxi from the port. I called reception and they arranged it for me very quickly which was much appreciated. The service was excellent and the room was large and comfortable. The location is a bit loud and busy so not entirely good if you are looking for a quiet night's sleep.
Breakfast was excellent. Opening hours of swimming pool.
Large, spacious room..nice beds.. Small bathroom
Very comfortable room with big balcony. Excellent common areas & the rooftop pool & bar with fantastic views of Heraklion
location: close to shopping & nightlife + not too far from airport/port Hotel breakfast buffet was overrated. possibly noisy from airport during busy summer months
Everyone was helpful. Swimming pool was closed, although this was not stated on booking.
Closeness to attractions Clerks were rude at reception, room was dusty (floors, table in balcony
Astoria Capsis is located in the heart of Heraklion near major sites and shopping opportunities. You can easily walk to a lot of archaeological sites like the former fortress docks & harbours. There are a lot places to eat and shopping close by. No fitness center for exercise. There weren't a lot of choice for their breakfast. Can be noisy. My room had a noticeable sway for no apparent reason, possibly the foundation of the building was not stable.
I liked the decorations and comfort of the rooms and the service by the staff. Breakfast was also excellent. Very convenient location too should you want to visit the city centre of Heraclion or if you are in a business trip. The swimming pool should open earlier and not at 11 am.. You couldn't have a swim before breakfast.. the pool could do with a renovation too - the style was too 70s..
The location is with walking distance of the port, bus station, and local attractions. The staff was helpful in arranging an extra night there, and they were helpful in every way. The bed was not as soft as I need with a sore back, but the room had lots of extra pillows.
Luxury hotel, located next to the old town of Heraklion. We booked this hotel because of the swimming pool on top of the roof. But, it wasn't open! Only open in the summer season, okay, it was September, but hey, only a pool in July or August???
I booked an executive room which was lovely as we had a seating area in the room. We put out the sign to have our room cleaned and only the bar fridge was stocked.
Very good location. Right in the center of the town. Very close to the port for boat traveling, about 15 min drive to airport. Walk 5 mins to market, car rental agencies, travel agencies. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Good to have free wifi cover the whole hotel. The room could be cleaner.
Very helpful staff at the reception. There are many tavernas and shops near by.The hotel is comfortable and convenient for all aspects of Heraklion life very difficult to park
Very friendly staff, close to main areas of town for shopping and eating, nice rooms, nice roof terrace overlooking the Aegean
The room was very good - the breakfast excellent - staff helpful. Hotel position very convenient.
nothing bad smell at the breakfast , noise from the room ,
Free high-speed wireless Heraklion is a dump, but this hotel provides good access to it.
We stayed there twice. The hotel kept clean and is located close to the city center. It is close to a public parking lot, which is important as it is hard to park on the street. Their facility is modern. If we go back to Creta, we would definately stay there again.
location; hotel was well kept room was very smokey, but that was somewhat expected.
The hotel was very clean, the staff helpfull and most important it was very close to the centre of the town. Just 5 minutes walk and you had access to everything.
Location very convenient Clean and comfortable
Very nice and helpful staff at reception. Great central location.
It was close to the center of Iraklio, grate location.
The location is near the city center and the port , easy access to transportation. The hotel is hard to find.We asked many people around there and no one seems to know the hotel , or even the Lahana street where it is located. I think the hotel should provide its map prior to the arrival of the customer. The map should be in Greek since the streets of Heraklion do not have their name written in English.
Rooms clean and cheerful. Staff very helpful. Nothing, the room was great.
Super nice staff, good location, ok price. Very difficult to find. Ask local people, they all know the way.
Close to port - easy walking distance. Quiet. Clean. Basic and close to old town. Smokey lobby.
very well placed for the centre of town, and in a quiet street Hardly the hotel's fault - but we found it impossible to arrive by car. Traffic and signs were impossible.Iraklion was the worst place in Crete for finding our way.We just gave up - and went to the airport (getting once more lost on the way) returned the hire car early, and went back by taxi. This turned out to be a very wise decision.
Free wireless internet inside the room. Accessibility in the tourist center. It takes time to get water heated. It's a waste of water to do just that.
Fine but nothing special
Quiet in evening, Restaurants near-by and free wlan Hard to find a parking place.
The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. It was difficult to find and a bit expensive for what I received.
Location, price and comfortable beds. The shower and bathroom was very small.
Just a block off the main waterfront promenade. Friendly and extremely well located. Beautiful rooms and facilities. Best Breakfast we had on our trip.
Convenient location, nicely decorated, well-maintained premises, excellent breakfast buffet. No major criticism. The room was a bit small, and there was only a black and white television with no English television channels
8E taxi ride from port, and walking distance to city center. Excellent breakfast. Large clean room. Quiet. On-site car rental. Not many good restaurants nearby.
Breakfast, staff, lunch no pool
Really nice place. Great rooms and comfort No it was great
The brekfast is very good, the bed's are very confortable. The rooms are new , in very good conditions and with very space ( we stay in a suit). It's a few minuts from the center, very well localize.
Breakfast was great. Variety of choices and all fresh.
Staff friendliness and efficiency, comfortable room, good breakfast.
confortable, freindly personell at every time ready for you
Walk to city center or the water in less than five minutes. Walked with luggage from the port to the hotel in 15 mins. Great central location. Staff was very helpful. 12 euro cab ride to airport. Breakfast was delicious and filling. Rooms were comfy. Good water pressure. That we had to leave.
there is no parking place and Irakleion is not the best place to search for a parking spot.
The view over Heraklion Harbour is fantastic ! Just five minutes to walk to get our ferry... And the staff was very kind.
we liked the location being near the centre of the town and the harbour, the rooftop terrace with the views and very nice meals, the staff who were very obliging nothing that we didn't like
The Hotel was very clean and modern. We were in Greece for 17 days and the Marin Dream Hotel was by best the nicest hotel we stayed at and not by any means the most expensive. Great value.
Very helpful staff. Very close to both ferry and bus station.
Everything. The staff was polite, friendly, and extremely helpful. The hotel has a polished, sophisticated feel. The rooms were 1st or business class quality. The price was good.
excellent location, full breakfast, clean room location, could not use balcony
location, staff, breakfast, free internet in lobby
Location is great for an overnight budget hotel. Great location in Heraklion and close to the airport. Beds are very hard and uncomfortable. The breakfast buffet is awful. Imagine waking up to see pasta for breakfast. No juice just sugar flavored waters.
Very well located, nice views and nice staff. The breakfast is higher than the standard in Greece. Muy bien situado, buenas vistas y buen servicio. El desayuno es mejor que la media en Grecia As everywhere in Heraklio, parking is a nightmare. Como en todo Heraklio, aparcar es una pesadilla
The cafe facilities for breakfast and snacks and the quality of the hotel. Walls maybe need more soundproofing as a neighbour's TV was very audible.
Location. We stayed in Heraklion as a transfer on our way to Santorini. The hotel is excellently located between airport (arrival), city (eating) and harbor (departure).
The hotel location is on a very nice beach, the staff is amazing!!! Very nice and helpfull!!! The rooms is very clean. There is a very good bus that conect the hotel diractly to city center and airport. No need to spend money on taxi All over the hotel there is a very strong smell of smoking. Discasting smell. A bit far from city center, need to take bus/taxi or be sporty and walk on the beach 4km
location was excellent No non-smoking rooms available. Carpets were stained and worn out.
not so clean, i didn't like the staff, too expansive for the services that offered and comparing it to the other prices of the hotels in crete
Front desk staff were very helpful. Good location, close to ferry port, restaurants, market and bus to Knossos. Rooms on the small side, especially if you have much luggage.
Convenience Carpets very very very dirty
Good location, nice facilities Difficult to find due to Heraklion's streets. Better directions from the dock would have been appreciated.
This hotel is very well located super close to the city center, it is very clean and very friendly and helpful personal. Airconditing could be colder.
The breakfast was quite good and the a/c was working fine. The beds were very hard, making sleeping incomfortable. a better fridge would be nice, especially for summer season.
closeness to city centre
The buffet breakfast was excellent, and the staff were accommodating, helpful and welcoming. Our room was small but comfortable for a one-night stay, and it was a nice surprise to find it contained a mini-fridge. We were grateful for the complimentary house-made raki and bowl of nuts, a very thoughtful touch. The hotel has a good location, just around the corner from the network of walking streets that lead into the center of town. Up until close to midnight groups of excited young people were running up and down the echoing stairs and hallways, making a lot of noise. We weren't sure if management was simply ignoring it because of the later dinner hour in Greece, or if they couldn't hear it, but we were glad when it finally ended as we had a very early flight the following morning.
location expensive, although room very clean it was dreary and drab, there was no tourist lliterature, staff not particularly friendly or helpful
Very positive and service-oriented staff. Central location in Heraklion
The location & room was good for just 1 night stay in Crete. Clean overall. The bathroom was rather small for us and there isn't much hot water.
Very nice stay. The hotel is close to the center of the city, as well as the bus terminal. The staff is very friendly, smiling and service minded. The rooms have good space, nice furniture (you rest your feet well in the beds) and nice little terrasses. The hotel was tidy and clean, but during our stay the floor in our room apparantly wasn't vacuumed, so it got a little dirty. The worse thing to be said about the hotel is, that the road it's on is not all too appealing - it's different from the more tourist minded city center. However, within few minutes of walking, you have a fine super market, an internet café, a bowling center and a McD. The hotel is simply not on the main road, but right next to it.
Great staff and good location. Very close to city center. Great value for money. The only bad thing is the thin walls. But rooms are very clean and comfortable.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and as our Greek was poor their English was appreciated. Slightly noisy street noise)
Clean and cheap hotel, friendly staff, 8-10 min walk from city centre, it offers everything that you might need for your stay, nothing more and nothing less!
value for money
Value and front desk people It would be nice if the wireless could be available in themrooms inadditionmto the lobby.
Extraordinary helpful and friendly staff. Small choice for breakfast.
Tv without canal satellite with channels from europe !!
Friendly and very helpful staff.
Right in the city center, fully renovated building, clean and comfortable, spacious room, polite staff. Even though it's located in the city center, it's very quiet during the night. For demanding guests, breakfast is quite poor. Nevertheless, for a two star hotel it approaches excellence.
Standard clean rooms and beds, Pay TV included.
This hotel was very nice. Everything in the room seemed very new and clean. Spacious bathroom with glass doors around the shower. Large balcony. There's a bus stop to the airport right across the street. The breakfast wasn't the best, but I appreciated a free breakfast. It's on a very busy shopping street so it could be pretty loud.
staff was easy going and the rooms are nicely furnished. I got one of the best rooms and that was very nice (but I'm not sure I would have been similarly happy with one of the low floors rooms, unless at a lower price). Breakfast
