Excellent location near Wild Goose Pagoda and open-air strolling areas, fountain show, restaurants. The hotel has beautiful traditional Chinese courtyards and evening live music (western music on Chinese traditional instruments). Ground floor rooms have a terrace and sitting area facing the courtyard. Room comfort was ok to ok+, room on the small side, bathroom very cramped and shower just adequate. Staff minimally helpful! Initially putting us In a smoking room after asking us what we preferred. Cup of coffee 10 dollars if not at breakfast time. Wifi inadequate except for email, but this was true in every hotel we stayed in in China. Not able to accommodate an early breakfast (6:45 am, 15 minutes before their breakfast hours).
The hotel staff were superb. The facilities are new and fantastic. The location of the hotel was not well known by the local taxi drivers and is a bit remote. This was over come by easy access to bus routes and knowledgeble taxi drives stationed at the hotel.
I had a problem with the price - the one in the hotel did not match the one I have booked (the price booked was in UD$, the price in the hotel in RMB). The hotel stuff had no idea where it came from. However, no complaint about the behavior of the hotel stuff. It was very correct. Finally they resolved the issue between themselves and booking.com. May be try to list the price in RMB when booking! The hotel is far away in the middle of the zone that in a few years might become a business city, but at the moment it is rather empty. No shop, no restaurant other than the one in the hotel. To get to the city you need to take taxi or ... a bus number 6 that stops about 200 meters from the hotel (the fair is 1 RMB that you put into the box. The bus might be even faster than driving a car, if you go to the city center (like Bell Tower), since the bus uses bus and bike line. In the hotel and generally in Xi'an it is better to speak at least a little bit Mandarin. The people generally do not speak English - only a few words and have problems to understand spoken English (as we do with Chinese). But the people are quite friendly.
Even thought most of the staff didn't speak english (which is quite common in china), they were very helpful and tried their best to help us. They also did cool stuff like have a 'dumpling party'. The hostel/hotel is quite clean and has quite a comfy, homy feel, and the area were it is located is quite pretty. Our room smelled heavily of concrete (nothing too bad) and due to the location of our room, the sounds from the street could be quite loud. However the overall experience was quite good
Very Nice staff
