We loved the huge rooms. I wish they had said it was a 2 bedroom, we would have taken a friend along. We figured it was just a normal room with 2 beds. It's always nice to know when you have an extra room.
Location was great. Next to Carnegie Hall and convenient to the subway. Comfortable beds. Front desk staff were friendly We did get free internet Shower ran hot and cold with no notice. Bathroom was cold, felt like it had no heat Difficult to ask assistance because the front desk was always busy and there was either no concierge or the one available was not very helpful or friendly
The location was all we paid for. Great spot. The room was half the size of the photos and there was hardly room for the bed. The hair hair dryer set the smoke detector off. No fridge. No microwave. Had to pay for internet. Pretty much a bed storage closet with a smoking hair dryer.
the location was great. Close to several attractions - times square, rockefeller, central park, etc. the bathrooms need updating
The location was the only thing this place has going for it. The rooms ware super old. Old furniture. Super small bathrooms. Extremely small showers. Not clean. A real dump in my opinion.
Nice rooms. Standard . Free upgrade . Close to time square . Very noisy . I can hear everything from the streets . But overall great place
I liked the location to Central Park and Times Square. Ice machine access and air conditioner was touchy
Beds were decently comfortable. The showers were awful and almost gave us burns due to randomly shifting temperatures. If our daughter were there I guarantee she would have been burned. The staff wasn't the most helpful after we asked them about it either. The bell hops were hard to find and unfriendly. The elevators were slow and tiny. I stay in NYC quite often and this has been the worst place I've stayed. I will not be staying again.
Nice size living and bed room. Bath was small but nice arrangement. Wifi charges outrageous. Staff were not happy with their jobs.
Location was extremely ideal! There was no thermostat so I wasn't able to control the heat. It happened to be the coldest weekend in NYC and the existing heater wasn't keeping up, making our room get pretty cold. I'm sure it wouldn't matter if it hadn't had gotten that cold
The only good service I got was from the room service staff and the hotel handyman who came to help we with my heat after being dismissed by the front desk attendant The front desk staff I encountered upon check in was beyond rude, beyond inhospitable. I had to wonder if I was getting a rom for charity or had I not just spent a tidy sum to stay there. As a business owner, I had to speak to the management whose response was less than satisfactory. Had my check in by been at 11pm I would've cancelled and stayed elsewhere. Had I not been tired- the sidewalk outside would have sufficed. I will NEVER stay there again not recommend anyone to. I have Zero tolerance for bad service and rude staff. They should be let go or out around the back to count towels or something. Not interact with humans
It is located 10 minutes from Times Square and 2 minutes from Central Park. The room was not luxurious, but it was perfect for sleeping.
Convenient location for the stay Relativelly small room compered to the price, previous Jumairah experience in SAE and generally number of stars of the hotel
The staff is kind, congenial and attentive. The spa is one of the best I have ever been to. I took my 82-year old parents to NY for the thanksgiving weekend, and the hotel staff was so kind, so wonderful to them. Can't think of a thing!
Staff were professional and friendly. Room was perfect size, very clean and tidy. Location was perfect.Had 5th ave two blocks away, central park on your door step.Couldn't ask for a better location. The hotel was walking distance to every tourist attraction. The tour bus stop was around the corner too. The room didn't have a coffee/tea maker.Would happily have brought one from the hotel but prices were stupidly high, along with the price of breakfast and dinner. This didn't put us off as starbucks was one block away and was able to walk to all restaurants, plenty of choices. But menu did look good.
Nothing but that we had to leave
The location is superb. Central Park views are a joy to behold. I also thought the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Postage-stamp sized room, even by NYC standards, for $500 a night. I also would have appreciated more attentive doorman service, especially during evening and nighttime hours. (Daytime service was fine.)
Excellent service. Good hotel just facing Central Park. There are many good hotels near Time Square, Rockefeller center, etc. with a more convenient location and with much better prices.
The Hotel staff was exceptional. They were very accommodating and definitely worked to in sure that our stay was comfortable and hassel free.
The location and service were great. The room was very comfortable and spacious (especially for NY). We ordered room service and the food was excellent. The parking was more expensive than other local hotels ($65 vs. $50 at other hotels).
Awesome location. Right at Central Park, with a great view.
We liked everything! A great hotel! They upgraded us (the price was the same). Excellent service! Surely we'd like to stay there next time. Location is excellent.
The size of the suite was great. Plenty of closets. Clean bathroom, very functional. Furniture and fixtures were in top condition. No music capability in the suite unless you brought your own.
Room was clean and comfortable and a good size for a NYC hotel. Convenient location for tourists. Elevator situation made for excessively long waits. Lots of street noise could be heard from the room.
This is my wife and my second time staying at this hotel. Last year, we stumbled across the place during our honeymoon simply because it was a great rate and it looked as if it was a bit more romantic and "sexier" than some of the other hotels in NYC. We were immediately hooked! This hotel since last year has underwent major renovations to bring the rooms to an even more modern hot view. When we checked in, they upgraded my wife and I because it was our one year anniversary, the doorman personally walked everything to our room (he is awesome btw) and the reception staff was beyond professional. I almost felt as if they still knew my wife and I from the first time we visited their hotel a year earlier. To our amazement, the hotel sent up a representative about thirty minutes after we checked in with a complementary bottle of champagne and a couple of glasses for my wife and I to celebrate our anniversary. Talk about overwhelming service you never get when traveling today -- especially in a big city! The rooms were spacious for a NYC hotel. Their upper floor suites are totally worth the extra money -- including one of the rooms that has a walk-out balcony. While there was a bitter snow storm during our stay last week, we still managed to enjoy our time outside! My wife and I have traveled the world and as a native northeastern, I have stayed in a ton of amazing hotels. However, in my opinion, nothing can even come class to the professionalism, cleanliness, romantic and down right hot environment that this hotel possesses. Forget every other hotel you might see on the list -- Dream Hotel, Midtown is the perfect place to say for a romantic getaway or a one-night rendezvous you might never forget. I enjoyed everything. Zero areas for improvements.
Location Was far from a Dream. Overpriced for what seems like a 10'x10' room with a brick wall view. People quickly say "well that's New York", but at $300+ a night there are plenty of great options in the city. Won't be back.
Location was excellent. History is good. They were in a complete renovation process and they did not tell me up front. Only one elevator was being used for guests and it was malfunctioning. One was out of service and one only for construction.
The staff, from doormen to housekeeping to desk staff were freindly and very accommodating. They are obviously the strength of this hotel. The location of the hotel was convenient to local attractions and eateries. Local mass transit gives you access to the rest of the city. The room was a bit drafty. Also the open shower allows water to soak the bathroom. Scaffolding on the exterior detracted from the appearance. There are three elevators but one wasn't working and another was so small it could only hold 3-4 people depending on luggage.
Very clean and staff were helpful Rooms are small but as expected for New York
The room (mostly the bathroom) smelled so strongly of bleach that I got a terrible headache. It was bad enough that It didn't matter what deal I could get- I could not tolerate it another day. Other than that, everything was great. If smells don't bother you, it's a great place! I am VERY sensitive to smells.
Location!! Room was clean and staff nice. We had and adult and child friend in the city we were visiting. We didn't use the pool until one day we wanted to have them join us. We were told that they would be $75 a person to swim. I thought that was outrageous since we hadn't used the pool yet and I'm quite sure not everyone staying in the hotel takes advantage of the pool. We decided to go to their building which had a much better facility 44 floors up on the park to swim. We weren't charged a thing to use for the day. I understand a charge of some sort but $75 for 1 adult and $75 for 1 child is ridiculous. I also can't speak to the food in the hotel because we always ate other places, but we found that everything else with our stay was more than adequate.
Our room was large and very comfortable. The hotel was conveniently located. The lobby was crowded, worn and dated. There were huge boxes lining our hallway that made it difficult to get to our room with luggage.
The late checkout and location Room could be more updated and the walls were thin
Location was great. Old building that needs updated infrastructure
Older hotel, with older finishings. But large rooms for a city hotel. Everything clean and comfortable. Nice lounge to grab a snack or drink. Rooftop pool was a neat experience for our 14yr old and great value for Midtown. Discounted parking wasn't bad at 30.0p/day and the hotel kept our bags after check out. No complaints
Perfectly located if you are on a short tourist visit to NYC. A little renovation can help up lift quality of stay.
Location, bar The hotel needs a major renovation. Decor is dated, building appears worn out. Insulation was combining out of door. Hallways were dark and carpet dingy. Bed squeaked. Smell of smoke the first night
Rooftop pool and central location excellent; staff extremely helpful. Manager Joe Cecala great. The lobby bar is not romantic.
The proximity to Central Park was nice. The room had old appliances ( toilet, air conditioning unit) and reeked of cigarette smoke.
Our stall shower was missing the sliding door. The bathroom got soaked during every shower
The value of the rates given the the area is great and it is centrally located in mid-town. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My room was noisy in the morning but quiet most of the other times.
Great value for location in central NYC. No complaints
I didn't sleep well- the bed was as hard as a rock. Good location
Nice lounge. Great location. Easy in / out. Flakey WiFi
Room very very small for paying that price. My window view was of another building like 3 inches apart. Sink wouldn't drain, remote control wouldn't work. Otherwise, the staff was nice and the bed was comfortable.
The Empire charges mini bar rates for Keurig coffee in room. The bathroom was very, very small which made it difficult to use comfortably, and we are very small people.
The Empire Hotel was much, much nicer than I expected, considering that it is one of the more affordable options in Manhattan. The lobby was very stylish and featured a nice bar where people were meeting for drinks and snacks etc. The room was very small, but that is typical in big cities, and it was really nicely done, with a lovely bed, lots of towels and toiletries, etc. It felt very comfortable. The location is amazing: Lincoln Center is literally across the street, the subway is half a block away, and you can easily walk to dozens of attractions and the park. This will be my go to hotel from now on in NYC. The movies were a bit expensive to rent ($19!) but the internet was strong and cheap, so it didn't matter. I could hear the folks in the next room, but they were having an argument (whoops) and otherwise I couldn't hear anyone. NYC is noisy, so there's always going to be some noise. I really don't even consider these complaints, to be honest.
Small rooms, great location. Good staff. Nice lobby
Location Too old and the room was too small worthless
The room and lobby were beautifully decorated and the hotel was in a great location right in the middle of manhattan. The staff was very professional and extremely helpful. The room was agonizingly small for the amount of money we paid for it. When we checked in the lady behind the desk said she was "upgrading" us, and we barely had enough room to walk around the bed. I shudder to think of how small our room was before the "upgrade".
The rooftop deck had great views and location was good They charge you for everything and it's super overpriced. The pool was a disappointment it's as big as a pickup truck
The Hotel i clean, staff friendly and helpful. Location is perfect for tourists within walking distance of Central Park,Time Square and Rockefeller Center. Several subway stations close by as well. no room service
Amazing view, great amenities. No

This hotel was within walking distance to the attractions, mainly Broadway theaters, that we wanted to see in New York.
Super clean and contemporary, excellent bathroom, wet bar (including fridge and freezer with automatic ice maker), close to some good bars and the theatre Noises from the hallway/other guesrooms, and appliances/HVAC system. One particular noise sounded just like some leone trying to open the and startled me regularly
Continental Breakfast, View, room size for new york, valet and bellhop
The location is excellent and can have room with park view.

Everything, the view was exceptional !! No i recommend it for everyone
The breafast. The toilet seat had urine on it and there was evident of someone having a bowl movement. I had to clean the seat. Also the room it's self could have been cleaner. Finally, they had no roll away beds so we had to buy a air mattress. That really put us out!
The 24hr gym and the amazing view of Manhattans skyline from the 65th floor. Staff wasnt very friendly or helpful.
Free access to the bus center and internet were GREAT.
The staff was very attentive in spite of having a fully booked hotel and being extremely busy. The hotel is located a few blocks from Central Park, the metro, great restaurants, and theaters. The fitness room was in the windowless cellar. The carpet down there smelled of mildew. The elevators are tiny - we often had to wait for 10 minutes for multiple elevators until there was finally room for us.
We bought some groceries in the corner, there is a fridge and microwave where you can store them and have your breakfast there Bed and pillow are comfy Staff is friendly, you can ask for a map for guidance Elevators had peak hours, stay at lower levels in case you have to take the stairs, In peak hours is the fastest way. Bathroom door is sliding and not hermetic at all, so it can be awkward
Very loud heating system
Reading some of the negative review scares us a little, but the price is what we are comfortable with and it right next to time square. When we got there we were surprise, it's not bad as you would fear. In fact the place was clean and modernize, bed was very comfortable, got everything you expect of a hotel, including a fridge, microwave, complementary wifi. Major thing is the hotel elevator waiting time can be so long, so it's best to get a room nearer to the ground, incase you need to use the stairs. Minor tins I didn't like was one day the house keeper forgot to clean our room, when we came back late one morning. Also it would be nice if the hotel room have a pool, jacuzzi, or steam room.
Walking distance from a lot of attraction Parking too expensive
The location of the hotel was fantastic; very close to Times Square and all the Midtown attractions. The staff were very friendly and helpful whenever we needed them. The room was too dark. The light was not strong enough and we could not open the window to let in natural light as there was a brick wall immediatly infront of our window.
Location was excellent! Hotel is close to everything: theater district, Rockefeller Plaza/Top of the Rock Observation Deck, Central Park, Empire State Building... Staff friendly, especially Michelle and Vladimir. I didn`t like the darkness in the room - there was a tall building right next to the hotel, so there was no day light in the room at all! Also, I asked what my total was going to be for 4 nights, because booking.com gives you the total excluding taxes. The staff gave me lower price while checking in and a higher price while checking out. I don`t know why noone gave me the contract or something when checking in. I guess that I made a mistake there, too. Overall, a good experience and perfect location: close to everything!
It was a great place!! The staff was super friendly and the location was amazing.
Helpful and friendly staff. Excellent location I NY.
Very close to tourist spots (which can also be a downside if you are looking for a more quiet neighborhood). Room was relatively spacious. Heating which cooked us was quickly fixed when asked. Noisy airco outside. Not much fresh air inside.
The rooms are very dark since most of them have windows that face (6 feet) another building. If you are planing to stay inside any lenght of time, it is very depressing. The lighting inside the rooms needs improvement.
The location is great. I had a standard room with a king bed. The room was a good size. Plus Andy Warhol is one of my favorite artist. So I liked the artwork. Didn't care for the bathroom. Needs a good deep cleaning to get rid of stains. Bathtub/shower arrangement was extremely odd. No shower curtain, just half of a glass window.
The location is excellent and close to a variety of restaurants and public transportation. Worn furniture, peeling wallpaper, one slow elevator. It was cold in NY the night of my stay, and it took over three hours to warm up the room sufficiently to take off my coat. No in room coffee.
Great location but also fairly quiet as window not onto street and in a "honk free" zone. Comfortable beds. Lots of hot water. Very dark room, had to have lights on during the day. Electric plugs tended to spark when used which was rather worrying. The hairdryer didnt work. There were no coffee facilities in the lounge/computer room as shown in a picture.
Location was excellent and easy walk to major areas. It was a safe, clean hotel and reasonably priced. Overall good value and somewhere I would stay again. My room had no natual sunlight, the window overlooked a brick wall, but seeings I was out all day it wasn't a big deal.
The proximity to everything in MAnhattan was brilliant,no matter where you wanted to go,it was a short distance from the hotel broken down elevator for the best part of 2 days, not good when your on the 7th floor
Nice upscale, modern and hip boutique hotel. Close to my work in midtown and 6 1/2 Ave. Friendly and consistent staff. Fantastic in room amenities. Comfy bed and nice big bathroom, robes and slippers.
Location, roof top Small room, needs renovation - room looks outdated, paper thin walls - can hear everything from next door, expensive for what you get
Ideal location. Small but well appointed room. Had a great deal so excellent value; likely not great value for money at regular rates, but in that location, would be hard find better options.
The location. Room T which could not be controlled.
Location close to Lincoln center. The little Japanese restaurant was good for breakfast. Bedsheets cover smelled of smoke; apparently this was not a smoke free hotel or room.
Comfortable bed, nice tv, extremely clean bathroom. Really liked the heated floor in the bathroom. Bar and lobby were very nice.
The location near Columbus Circle is great, but the hotel is hard to find since it lists its address as 6 Columbus Circle when in fact it is on 58th, near 8th avenue. The air conditioning worked but we could not make adjustments, just turn it off. Then it would not turn on again.
location. bed comfort. no bed bugs. the rug was dirty looking. a chair would have been useful.
The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The room size was a little cramped for three adults.
Cheap Loud plumbing
A non-frills hotel, but being a Thompson Hotel it offers high quality service, clean rooms and good value accommodation. All the hotel staff was exceptionally polite and helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay at 6 Columbus. Rooms don't have a view & lack of business center.
The room was clean and the decor was very trendy. The staff were very helpful and kind.
The staff was great - especially Tommy the bellman. The location is awesome! The morning we checked out there was no hot water to shower.
Location was fantastic, as it was easily accessible to Central Park and train stations. Breakfast selection was great, since it was included in part of the $40 per day per person deal. I am having mixed feelings about the $40 per day per person charge, since the only benefit to someone who is on a business trip might be the breakfast (which was great). But I guess everyone might want an option to opt in or out for such fees. Housekeeping was bad - requested some extra hangers/hairdryer at night but never came. I had to remind them the next morning for it. Same deal when they make up the room - sometimes they are missing bottles of water, others they forget to replenish towels. No standardization in the process. I do not exactly feel the five stars was well deserved as compared to other hotels.
