We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Amsterdam and couldn't have asked for a better hotel. Very comfortable, immaculate, great location, incredibly friendly and professional staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel for pleasure or business trip. nothing
I liked the location and the style of the room. We wanted to make some tea as it was quite cold in Amsterdam but there was no tea pot. We asked the service and it appeared the tea pot would cost us additional 6 euros. I think tea pot should not cost anything in the hotel of such level.
Good location, big and clean rooms, nice staff, value for money
Great location. great food, friendly staff. pricey
Paid extra for lounge Lounge didn't have food available all the time Lounge should open at 5 am We were with my handicap father and the hotel lobby is handicap accessible but it would be a real problem if he had to leave quickly.
The location is perfect, walking distance from the train. We also walked both days from the hotel through the neighborhoods to the museum district and back. The breakfast and cocktail receptions were an added benefit.
nothing Had booking confirmation in-hand. Manager asked a ton of questions, asked me to email her the confirmation, wasted a half hour till she finally told me the reservation cannot be honored because their reservation system was already closed, meaning they overbooked and refused my reservation after I already showed up at the hotel. They wasted my time. They were rude. They tried to blame me even though all i did was book online. They provided no assistance in getting a different room in the city. Awful experience. BE CAREFULL ON BUSY NIGHTS, THEY OVERBOOK.
Excellent location, which is why I would still recommmend it. Not particularly good value for money. There were rennovations taking place making the room a bit noisy duraing the day. 30 Euro pp breakfasts are too expensive and should have been included in the rate
Great central location. Nice, business-class hotel with good facilities and service. Ask for room facing courtyard, which is quieter than street side. Kayak price of $170/nt incl (very good) breakfast was great deal for this property.
Good location, helpful staff, nice bar.
Very central location, clean, friendly, well-furnished.
Location, breakfast Not making up the room during the day, therefore not replenishing shampoo, tea, towels etc.
It was downtown.
It is a good locasjon Noice from the chuch bells
convenient location, nice accommodations a little noisy during the night since the Red Light District is right behind the hotel
The location of the hotel was central to the main tourist areas of Amsterdam. The room was not very updated and located at the very bottom of the hotel. No elevator to go down and had to go down a few sets of stairs.
the bed! they got ecellent mattresses. the location is great, right in the historical centre of amsterdam ...
Location Helpful staff My room the heat/ac didn't work.....
location close to Central Station Amsterdam, very close to city Center of Amsterdam ( Dam / shopping streets )
it was central to everything, good view from our room and the noise from the bells wasn't as bad as people said.hotel had alot of character, fun to walk around it on a rainy day.
The location was excellent & the room was very clean & comfortable . we had a back bedroom & there was a church very close by which had bells chiming hourly- not so good at 7 a.m.
I must say the location was unbeatable for me. Very close to the Central train station and the bars around. The staff was not much friendly. I woke up afternoon due to jetlagging. The housekeeping had left already to clean up the room and change the towels. They couldn't give me extra towel. Indicating "the towel is limited". The room was so small and the bed was small and not comfortable. I wouldn't stay there again!
It's very central location, friendly staff and overall hassle free stay. Too short, next time I'll stay longer!
Great location near train station and city. Good views from the hotel. Room was large and bath was too! Room was dated.
the overall experiance
Location was great. The room was clean and comfortable. The noise from the street was absurdly loud at all times of the night. The hotel provides earplugs by your bedside.
The location is great, opposite Centraal Railway station and you avoid the added cost and hassle of catching a cab to your hotel. Most tourist spots are within walking distance. Staff was great, they let us check in early and check out late which helped us a great deal. Some of the advertised facilities were not available during our stay but it did not really matter to us.
The hotel staff were very friendly and responsive. We were upgraded to a nice room. The breakfast was fantastic, probably the best we had had in a long time. The location is perfect for any visitor and Amsterdam is one of the most picturesque cities in the world. Also to note, people in Amsterdam (including all the hotel staff) were extremely friendly and ready to help. Loved it!
Other than the location, this place really was just so-so. Most Marriott Courtyards are cleaner, more comfortable, and have much better service. For the price, however, it wasn't a bad deal and proximity to both Amsterdam Centraal and many tourist attractions made up for the lack of aesthetic appeal and customer service. Breakfast was not included and would be an addition $30/person. At that price, it should include a packed bong and tickets to the Van Gogh museum. Rooms were terribly outdated and not in a quaint Dutch way, but in an oddly 80's post-apocalyptic manner that made me question why I wasn't staying at a hostel. Our shower didn't even have a door or a curtain. 5 stars!? Are you kidding me? Europe must max out on a 10 star scale.
I spent two nights at the NH Barbizon and I only have positive things to say. It was a group of 5 friends and we couldnt be happier with our stay. The hotel in itself is beautifully decorated. The location is excellent across from Amsterdam Central and all the trolleys, but the best part of the hotel was the staff. Daniel helped my friends and I not only with our luggage, but with advice on getting around the city, recommendations for restaurants, and sightseeing. Overall great experience, and upon my return to Amsterdam I will definitely stay here and hope to get assistance from Daniel!
Best Staff ever very friendly and welcoming
Nothing The picture they show of the room is not even close to what I had to stay in. My room was old, smelled horrible, most of the lights did not work, and the shower head was broke. This has to be one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a hotel..
Hotel's position, room's comfort Room's view on the station end the noise of train during all day and night
The free cookie, the Apple Mac in the room, the proximity to the station Courtyard rooms have no view, the restaurants and bars are expensive, all a bit impersonal and large scale
was very modern and clean. staff were polite and rooms were clean. would stay here again. good location.
Clean and Position good, staff nice enough. The worst layout of rooms possible, tiny rooms, no door on toilet, smelt of smoke, It would impossible to get out of the Hotel in an emergency.
Location based right near to red light district area. Which is very nice cuz of the location again.... cars cant go thru the street.
Fairly newly renovated, but rooms shows already wear-and-tear. 24H noise from the party street outside. Serves no breakfast.
Very Central in red light district, easy walk from the train station. Computer available downstairs. WiFi was not free, i think for the price it should be.
only stayed for 1 night however hotel very clean and staff very friendly. Best thing is the location to the night life
The location was extremely convenient--just a short walk from the train station. However, this hotel is not ideal for families--it's right in the "green" district and a block away from the Red Light district. If you are comfortable with that (the street it's on is busy and you can small marijuana and loud music abounds, there are a few drunks on the street, etc.) you're only a block away from the Royal Palace. We had to explain a little to our kids what they were seeing and kind of hope that they didn't zone in too much on the window displays in stores on the street. But the room was surprisingly quiet (we had a room for 4), though quite small, had good shower, good television, and the hotel offered free computer use in the basement (though annoyingly not free wifi). Staff was very nice and helpful. Would stay there again, but wouldn't recommend it for families if there are better alternatives in other locations. I wish the hotel offered free wifi. Free breakfast would have been a plus, too.
Close to the train station and within easy reach of all transport The room allocated was in the attic on two levels with the bedroom being accessed by very steep stairs and the bed required crawling into as no room to walk either side.
I liked cleanliness of my room. It was quite cold, as shutting the window properly was hardly possible.
I liked the location it was very close to everything, I would definetly stay here again.
Amazing location. Rude check-in staff, loud, dirty
nice breakfast, large room in the annexe building charged connexion, snow on TV(???)... bad facilities in general
The hotel is well located being close to the station and all the city centre facilities, shops etc. Rate is competitive for a city centre hotal. Rooms are rather tired and need updating, so whilst Ok for an overnighter I wouldn't recommend it if you plan to spend a lot of time in your room.
As young group not wanting to disturb other peopl staying in the hotel and wanting a smoking room. The room given was very suitable for us
hotel location is excellent and breakfast was good. staff are friendly. I prefer who comes to this hotel without luagage. the building is old and not very comfortable, the cieling is too low. Safe box is 5 Euros per day is silly.
The breakfast is very good and the location of hotel very convenient. The view from my room.
The location and the breakfast included. No air conditioning, TV did not work, room was not super clean, the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor A LOT.
Easy to find from the central station and only around the corner from the highlights/restuarants.
the shower had no water pressure and the water was cold in this freezing weather at night all the heating was switched off
So close to Central Station. Good breakfast. My reservation said the cost would be 85.60 euros, but they took 90 euros cash.
proximity to Central Station; Shower curtain smelled really smokey.
Internet connection is for purchase!!! must be freee, like in many cities in Europe!
Within walking distiance of the train station and in the city center and the room was nice and cosy Staff at the checkin and the shower
Close to the station and attractions. Quiet. Quality of breakfast poor. One of the two double bedrooms booked was small and cramped. The drainage was probably blocked in or outside the hotel, leaving a nasty smell on the first day, and had only partly improved later.
the location is excellent and the staff were polite and helpful letting us leave our luggage there when we arrived early. the room was a little grubby and worn so probably wasnt cleaned properly and the ceiling and shower were very low. I wouldnt want to stay for more than a few days.
good location, clean, good value
Very small rooms. Thin walls - can hear everyone in the hallway, esp drunken Brits coming back at 3am
The reception desk was always very friendly and helpful. also, the location is fabulous. I got a triple just for me, so I was lucky, and everything was clean and nice and comfortable. I imagine a single might be very small.
Friendlyness of staff.
The location and the cosy rooms The price :-) and that breakfast was not included...that was very bad
Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Very good value for money and very good location. We really enjoyed our stay and will stay again.
Clean, cool asnd well located 2 min walk from station.Good Value for City centre hotel.Due to early flight did not sample breakfast Not going to moan for the sake of nothing like most seem to on these reviews
it was very central and also seemed very secure No complaints
Very cold in room, modest breakfast
This hotel is very close to everything. We walked everywhere. The only bad thing was being so close to the red light district and on the front of the hotel, it was very noisy at night with lots of drunk people walking around.
The room, toilet and shower were clean. The location was very convenient. The breakfast was good.I Willl stay here again when I'm in Amsterdam. Overall, the value was good and I would recomend this hotel to other budget oriented tourists. The beds were a bit worn and could have been more comfortable
Right in the Red Light district but without the noise.
the proximity to everything. the lighting in the room was so dim i could hardly see and we did´not get a proper window that let in the sun.
except the noise, everything was ok. Extremely noise room, because of the traic in the hotel
close to station sink blocked, shower head not working, had to walk down the road to a cafe for breakfast, no opening window in bedroom, ventilation poor and noisy, lighting poor (could not see to read properly) .
stayed at this hotel 3 times now, staff are very nice and hotels is in the perfect location
Very good hotel for the short stay. I needed: hotel located near central railway station, bed in a warm separate room, good breakfast, shower and wi-fi. Bed was quiet good, room was warm enough, breakfast was not bad (buffet: warm boiled eggs, cereals, milk, butter, cheese, ham, fresh cucumbers/tomatoes, tea and juice), shower was not in a very good condition, but ok. The only wi-fi did not work in the hotel, but there were other e-providers obviously from other hotels nearby. for free. would recommend for short stay (excurcions, tourism and so on) No any disadvantages for me. Shower was leaking but ok. Wi-fi did not work temporarly in the hotel, but my laptop found another wi-fi provider for free. Maybe cost was not so cheap for me, but there were no any choices anymore at the moment of booking (only one week before check-in).
nice quiet enviroment no
Location near Central Station is very good. (Three blocks). Front door desk quite helpful. Breakfast was sufficient. Room was querky, floor unlevel but overall room is okay compared to many in EU.
Excellent canalside location on Singel within 8 minutes walk of Centraal Station. Very friendly and helpful staff.
position small room
Location Staff Rooms very small in comparison to what was shown on the website... Breakfast was good but queuing for toast took ages as only one toaster for all guests...
Staff friendly and helpfull. Location good. An average-sized Hollander wouldn't have been able to use the toilet. The rooms was very small given the rate and the bed had to be nudged to open the door.
The hotel staff are very very friendly & helpful. It's the typical Ducth hospitability. Good work.
The staff is really friendly and caring. Although there was a problem with the lift and didnt work, the hotel try really hard to fix it as fast as they can. Very helpful people and very convenient location. Also just locates next to the canal make the view pretty to look at.
friendly staff, wonderful place close to the city's center
The staff. Location. Breakfast choice is very poor. Toilet and shower in same space.
Location was very good. Room was clean and the breakfast was average. The walls were very thin. You could hear your neighbor showering or flushing the toilet. You can also hear people outside your room walking around. It didn't feel secure.
Very convinent near the station. Wi-Fi in some rooms is too weak.
