Good location, inobtrusive but friendly staff, hotel obviously kept to a good standard, nice individual touches. I usually stay in chain hotels for business trips (because you don't want any surprises) but I am glad that I came to Myers Berlin on this occasion.
Athmosphere, location, breakfast (especially bread!), staff, bathroom, courtyard (flowers etc.), friendliness. In my opinion there could be more green vegetables in the breakfast table (perhaps taking advantage of the Bio-market nearby).
Great location for night life and access to city centre
Location, breakfast no air condition in room
Fabulous breakfast, quiet room, great beds Breakfast was sometimes very crowded and the staff had a hard time keeping up. THey were very nice though.
The staff was excellent. The breakfasts were terrific and the Hotel is situated in a quiet area close to mass transit and great restaurants. I had to carry our "heavy" suitcases up several steps to the lobby of the hotel.
Located 3 minutes away from U-bahn, few minutes from grocery store and restaurants, quiet neighborhood, helpful staff; provided me with extra blanket when I needed it; great breakfast none
I have appreciated the charm of the hotel and, above all, the position in a very calm street, very close to a U-bahn stop, in a fascinating part of Berlin, Prenzlauer Berg, rich in good venues, restaurants and pubs. The receptionists at the hotel did not seem very friendly, showing no attitude to speak English and speaking only German.
Good beds, warm shower, quietness, easy to reach, elevator, breakfast (value for money, but you must be hungry in the morning). Beds & bedlinnen a bit short for tall Dutchies.
The hotel is located quite central, yet outside the business of city life. Very nice courtyard and garden where you can relax; and very friendly and helpful staff.
I liked the fact that, unlike other hotels/hostels of the same price category, breakfast was included.....and good. Furnishing of the room very spartan.
Very Friendly staff, breakfast was good, clean hotel.
It has everything you could need!
Large clean comfortable room overlooking quiet courtyard .Helpful staff .Great beds. Noisey schoolchildren staying there .
The breakfast was wonderful, the best boiled eggs in any hotel worldwide.
nice simple rooms, good breakfast the bathroom (#204) is small for a tall guy like me
Funky comfort Nothing
This hotel is great in the price range. I have stayed in other similar priced hotels in Berlin and found this hotel to be the best value. If the price and location suit you; stay here. Servicing of the room was erratic. Some days nothing done, some days properly serviced.
Friendly helpful staff. Good value for money
the sense of modern interior, the photographs and colouring, the yonung atmosphere poor breakfast, fruitsallad was sour and uneatable. No small spoons. Juice too weak, as the coffee. Too noisy in breakfastroom, no space to sit. Not much to choose from concerning food, especially not for my vegetarian friend.
The location was perfect, the metro station was right out front. Nice area with lots of cafes and restaurants. It was quiet at night. The beds could have been better.
The staff is very helpfull and the rooms are very nice. The beds are much too hard.
The service was good, rooms were nice and the staff flexible.
Relatively quiet for such a crowded hotel. I was at the top floor, being a bit away from the action (dorms seem to be on the lower floors) Breakfast was very basic, though cheap. Rooms could be cleaner. Rooms are large but unpractical. Not very cosy
Clean rooms and bathrooms, excellent price. shower was on a timer so you had to keep pressing the button to make it stay on. shared kitchen could have had more pots / plates / knives etc.
Hotel and room were clean, nice location close to the U bahn station Bed was not ready, I had to put the sheet on by myself and they were really not sheets but just mattress cover and a blanket, really poor for 90 euro per night
Well located and convenient. Rooms too small
We had written in the reservation, that we both are pregnant and maybe that is the reason why they kindly placed on in the quiet 7th floor with a very nice balcony. Everything is brand new and very Ikea-nice and totally value of money and there is a sub way right in front of the door. And the area is great! Bring your own towels - the ones we got were the seize of a tabloid news paper. We only stayed two nights, so it didn' t matter that there wasn´t any clean up of the rooms.
Close to The U-Bahn which makes it easy to explore Berlin. and the rooms were nice, was good to have a private bathroom The breakfast. The staff came to the room and complained that we were too loud in the room when we were only watching tv. I did not appreciate that. If the tv is "too loud" they should not be in the room...
near TV tower, walk 20min, underground just at the door, only 2 station. Intresting bar and cafe.
the room, the bath, the doors to open to the yard, the breakfast one day the cleaners dident come before 4 o´clock
Clean and hotel was a reasonable price. Location is not ideal but the trains and underground services are excellent. You are right beside the S
Location, services, clean, Breakfast
The location was ok - a doable walk from the good restaurants at Prenzlauer Berg. If for nothing else, it's good to have a walk after the dinner before you go to sleep. The hotel staff was nice and the rooms clean. The breakfast was good.
The room, the breakfast Few channels on TV, no channels in Spanish or French
Very nice hotel. Everything was beautiful.
It was close to my points of interest in particular. The central ventilation system is noisy and it had to be stopped over the night, which made the room a bit chilly in the morning (during November).
the rooms were comfortable and the staff were very friendly. the buffet breakfast was really nice but i feel that people are not going to pay €14.50 for this... much too expensive. buffet too expensive.
Cleanliness of rooms The location is quite far away from main sights
Great stuff - receptionist!
Exellent place in Mitte. Very silent and calm. No noise from the street. Easy access to U-bahn.
The cleaning staff did a great job. The beds were very comfortable and the view from our room was great. We were able to open our window and get fresh air without worrying about noise or risk of someone entering the window. We like a cooler room, so this set-up was perfect. I thought our room included breakfast, it didn't, which was my mistake, but someone should have explained that to us at check-in, not after we were eating. The other problem was the the breakfast. It was a disappointment. We were on a 3-week trip and all other places had fantastic breakfasts. This one had burnt eggs, stale bread and soggy cheese. With a little tweaking it may be able to reach the level it needs to be at for the 14 Euro charge.
Great location, secure underground car park, 24/7 reception, free wifi. Quiet room with nice view over gardens. Only had a smoking room left which was very unpleasant. Had to sign a 2 page disclaimer to get a Wifi access code, which only worked on one laptop. Breakfast on the expensive side.
Location of hotel
Clean and quiet room, good location in Prenzlauer Berg / Mitte with U-bahn nearby. Friendly staff at reception. The breakfast buffet was very expensive compared to numerous breakfast-offering restaurants in the area. The service at breakfast was not friendly. Also, at one point we had to wait very long in the reception before we got our key, other than reception staff didn't care at all about us ringing the reception bell.
Good location, very pleasant and most helpful reception staff. Would be pleasant to have kettle and coffee provided.
Staff were very helpful. Shower was excellent. Bathroom was clean.
A comfortable hotel in a nice neighbourhood - good restaurants very near by - with friendly staff and a superb breakfast! The first room I was shown was rather small but they were happy to move me.
Friendly staff, clean and great location
Good Location, Clean and comfortable rooms, willingness to cater to special needs (non-smoking rooms), helpful staff. Booking process: Unfriendly booking process, web site does not provide sufficient information for visitors wanting to book on-line (eg, the differences in payment policies for the types of rooms, ie normal/guaranteed/non- refundable is not explained), thereby leading to confusion. No flexibility in revision in booking. Same rooms booked once are available later at lower rates, but no consideration was given to the guests despite making request in this regard, thereby leaving a feeling of unfair play. Hotel Facilities: Absence of a lounge area for casual meetings; absence of tea-coffee maker and plug adapter in room; no bell boys to help with luggage; complimentary breakfast not provided with some types of booking; no computer station (to check mails)
Beside transport which made it very accesible, plenty of shops for the basics, and also pharmacy was local and could eat out around the area. very pleasant stay all round the showers were not practical, because they worked by pressing a button that was timed. so water only flowed for a couple of minutes at a time. (its only a small complaint and doesn't really take away on a whole)
basic, clean,comfortable, value for money
very nice rooms ,breakfast really good, friendly staff and close to Alexander Platz
Breakfast, the Prenzlauerberg quarter.
the breakfast buffet was quite extensive for the price, the neighborhood was great and hotel was close to all trams, staff was very helpful. Price was great for Berlin loud school groups staying there and banging walls next to ours throughout the night, grafitti in elevator and general unkempt exterior gave a poor first impression of this nice budget hotel/hostel. Shower was timed so you had to keep pressing button "on" to take a long enough shower
Fairly good location and good value for the money and the facilities. Breakfast included is always a plus!!
Lively international atmosphere Lift didn't work in the evening
The location The breakfast was poorer, than I had expected.
The was a building site on the floor above and the noise was unacceptable.
breakfast, the location
We have seen many hotels during our city trips and this is typically how a hotel should be. Friendly hosts, nice ambiance, beautifull breakfast, near city area Prenz Lauerberg, clean and silence rooms and wifi free of charge. none
We arrived at 9am and were immediately taken to our room by the very friendly and helpful owner. Our room turned out to be a lovely suite even though we had only booked a basic room! The hotel is very well located very near a tram stop to get into the centre of Berlin and about 5 mins walk to a beautiful area of Prenzlaur Berg with great restaurants and bars, very quiet and peaceful! A great place for a break in Berlin!
very little This is a poor excuse for a design hotel it is of poor design. On very noisy street. Uncomfortable bed and airless room. Poor service and expensive for what it is.
very friendly staff. excellent value for money. very nice atmosphere. tasty rooms. breakfast was just great. can only recommend this hotel nope.
Adele has excellent staff who informed us about local adventures and intimate experiences. The hotel is central, 5 mins walk to hub of prenzlauberg, and close to transport (Tram M4 across road, 2 stops from Alexander Platz). It takes 15 mins to Kreuzberg & Friedrichshain by train and approx 8 euro taxi ride home from most night clubs. We stayed in the suit, the design is classy, comfortable, spacious and private, with seperate entry. Its is like staying in your own appartment but with added hotel perks such as insider German tips and delious breakfast. It is accross the raos from Volks park Friedrichshain, a haven with deep shade and a good place for yoga and a run. Also laundry, pharmacy, local shops and great food near by. we loved it. When there was a problem, which hardly occured, they fixed it immediately.
Staff wasn't at the hotel much, which amongst others meant that we had to call them and then wait outside the hotel at night for 15 minuts before anyone arrived. Also we requested a late check out which wasn't possible although we learnt that no guests were checking in. Furthermore the staff was reluctant to let os leave our bags during the day. Also the bar wasn't open at night.
The staff is really nice, helpful & friendly There was no shower-gel in the douche anymore!!The breakfast not varied (nothing sweet) & nothing was refilled (had no fruit neither!)
Excellent staff. Good breakfast. Transportation nearby and interesting neighborhood. I liked the large park next door too. There can be some internal noise in the hotel, as it caters to student groups. Like many hotels the sound proofing from the hall is not great.
Fantastic location, with Tram stop right outside. Large clean rooms and friendly staff.
It was an all inclusive price for papers, breakfast, all day coffee, internet etc and was clean and funtional. Convenient location for transport to centre. Ground floor rooom had no nets at window and looked out on a courtyard.
Warm & friendly atmosphere, leisurely breakfast environment, nothing lacking, look forward to visiting again
Very friendly and flexible staff ( we arrived with 3 people instead of 2 and they accommodated us with no problems even though the hotel was full), good selection at the breakfast buffet, excellent location near Alexanderplatz, free Wifi and coffee at the lobby It was a bit crowded at "the rush hour" of breakfast serving - but it was not a big problem and the willingness to serve breakfast at 6AM at our request one day really made up for it. Only German language channels on TV - not a big issue of course:)
Good ambience & comfortable, quietly situated triple room at the back of the hotel. Friendly, easy-going & helpful staff. Uncrowded buffet breakfast. The bathroom in our room was rather narrow, with a tiny wash-basin.
The hotel is new with a rather informal style. It met all my basic needs for a shorter visit to Berlin. It's located not too far from the Prenzlauerberg area with nice restaurants and cafés. Very nice and helpful staff. My room was small but comfortable and quiet. Nice breakfast buffet.
The beds were great, the rooms were clean and the staff spoke English very well! There was even a hairdryer!
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful
The staff service was excellent, the rooms were very modern and well maintained. There was no elevator and we were on the fourth floor, fortunately we were able to take our luggage that far, but it would have been difficulit for some. Telephone and internet were only available in lobby.
Zarenhof is well situated in Prenzlauer-Berg, with good connections especeially to Mitte and Alexanderplatz, but also to other parts of Berlin. The area is nice with many small restaurants and shops. The hotel is tidy, clean and quiet and it offers a fairly good breakfast. Many of the rooms are rather large. The bathrooms with showers are small and easily get more ore less flooded when using the shower. There is no service in the hotel at night time, except for the reception, which is situated in another building by the street, whereas the hotel is by an inner yard.
Excellent service, good value, comfortable room, good location. The 'kitchenette' was too small to be of much use. Okay for tea coffee etc.
Its very central and close to underground. no air conditioner and it can be a bit noise durant the night.
A nice clean hotel, with quiet rooms in a good location. Not the hotel's fault, but hard to find a car park nearby and train station across the road is closed for renovations.
The neighbourhood around the hotel (many bars) and its location in general. I liked the sunny room and also the warm bathroom. I did not like the beds as they were two of them brought close together instead of having one bed for 2 persons. There was only one computer in the ...fitness room. Breakfast could be better for a 4-star hotel. In general I would say the hotel was good but as a 3-star hotel and not 4.
the location in the city, the standard of the hotel, the service no
very nice hotel, good location in Prenzlauerberg. Quiet and cosy. Nice backyard Breakfast buffet is ok, not up to the hotel standards.
Everything was new Because it was so new it still smelt incredibly strongly of paint, affecting our sleep and health, the breakfast was incredibly poor- we complained and left, the manager accepted our complaint and did not charge.
The breakfast was absolutely excellent. The fitness room and internet were convenient. Subway access required carrying luggage up stairs.
Colors of the lights - Blue?
better then i had expected. clean. attentive staff. excellent location next to good transport stops. walls were too thin and halls a bit nosiy. could not figure out heater in room.
Cleanliness of the room/bathrooms, very friendly and helpful employees, breakfast included, good location in front of the railway station
We found everything we needed such as clean bedroom, laundry, very generous breakfast for free, friendly staff and a safety box. Brilliant. Once we had dinner there at very reasonable price (5 euros), but the meat (beef) and fish (salmon) were overcooked and inedible.
Free Wi-fi, 24 hours service at reception and the atmosphere at generator bar.
good room, great location high school kids :) lowsy aluminum tables and chairs in the bar
double rooms are not a suit, but fine and toilet inside just like an Hotel. bar, internet, cinema available. Brekfast not so fine but included. close to underground and tram stops. a fine bunker full of folks. dust under the bed. toilet vent broken.
It was located on a Metro and tram station making travel to and from other places in Berlin very easy. Checkout is 10 am which is too early. Also, I didn't like the shower stall very much, it was too small for me to shower comfortably but that's a small thing considering the price.
very cheap price one Monday night about 1:00 am, some people were very loud, and nobody took care of that.
No noice during the night. It would have been nice with one or two small towels more in the bathroom and to have a duvet each in sted of sharring one.
The hotel is conveniently located and fairly priced. The staff were friendly enough. it does not stick out in either a positive or negative way. If a person, it would be bland and inoffensive. It makes a good base for weekend in Berlin.
Very good location. Close to Alexanderplatz metro for easy travel within city and close to all the historic sights for sightseeing and shopping. The breakfast was great. The accommodation satisfied all our needs: it's not five-star but it's safe, clean, comfortable and friendly service at a good price.
Good location, close to public transport and the hub of Alexanderplatz, close to Prenzlauer nightlife without it being noisy at the hotel itself. Basic accommodation but good value. Only 2 small towels in room, and not changed every day. Decor in corridors looking very dated, very East Berlin !
Near to Alexander Platz and all the most important atractivities of the city.In the back quarter ( Prenzlauer ) is full of bar nightlife club and many more. Good Position!
distance to the centre of berlin breakfast no
* Too cold rooms
location of the hotel near to Alexanderplatz and a 10 minute walk tot the center of Prenzlaureberg was great. Also the help of the staff was very much appreciated small rooms without free WiFi, thin blankets and old towels
The whole package - value for money and helpfulness/politeness of staff.
Location of the hotel. The air conditioning did not work - it was very hot (in January).
it is a beautiful boutique hotel staff were fabulous the breakfst excellent, very nice stay. we found the futon very uncomfortable and the hotel just a bit out of the way and not many cabs near the hotel. Think they should consider wireless internett.
Very friendly and helpful hotel staff. The hotel was in a good position within the city within easy reach of the centre and other amenities.
Great for leisure. Relaxed breakfast. Limited use for business travel. No aircon. No breakfast before 8.00 am. Hardly any personel. Wouldn't book it again.
peace and quiet, beautifully and thoughtfully designed modern apartment, quirky fountain garden, helpful but not intrusive staff uncomfortably hard mattresses!
The rooms are furnished with authentic eclectic antique furniture. Every room has a theme. My room had a curio cabinet full of interesting objects, a lovely antique canopy bed, and several authentic asian antique tables and desks. A floor to ceiling window overlooks their lovely back garden. Many of the rooms have a bathtub outside the bathroom, basically in view of the living area. Its really quite cool. It is in a beautifully renovated 19th century apartment building with many period details. The hotel itself is on a quiet residential street. You would never know it is a hotel from the outside. Wifi didn't work one night out of the 5 I was there. The rest was perfect.
very comfy beds and helpful staff
Ackselhaus was fabulous - the staff were friendly and the rooms were incredible - i would definately recommend it to others none
Calm. Felt more like a small apartment than a hotel. In a good way.
Lovely hotel, very quiet with nice courtyard. Location is good, in a beautiful neighbourhood with lots of nice bars and good restaurants close by. Good transport connections close by.
The unique atmosphere, design and staff A bath in the room would have been nice
Loved the room - really a suite because enormous bathroom had a full sofa! Staff were extremely helpful and honor system for communal "mini- bar" was really nice. Breakfast buffet was very expensive (15 euros) but staff were very generous in charging us much less because we had only small amounts. Neighborhood is great - lively, great restaurants and fun shops. Hotel also has apartments; hence "family" designation above. Might have been nicer to stay within closer walking distance of tourist sites. Hotel is a 15-min walk or 1 quick tram ride to Aleksanderplatz - still quite close. But being in the thick of Prenlauer Berg really was fun.
The basics were there: a comfortable bed, a clean room, hot shower and quiet surroundings, all for a fair price.
As others have said on here the staff is quite unfriendly to foreigners. Their check in window is very small and if you miss it they charge you an extra 10 euros. This was not on the info when it was booked. They will not store your luggage if you are early either so unless you want to waste an entire day to ck in -you are at their mercy. For 10 euros more there were much nicer choices. I arrived at 7:45 - which did not seem very late to me to check into a place. If they close at 6 then that needs to be clear in their description. --
Very understanding and helpfull staff. It only takes 5-10 min. to reach Alexanderplatz. There are a lot of restaurents in walking distance to the Hotel.
This Hotel is vey suitable for just sleeping. Breakfast is 4.50 €. But We didn't eat. Location is good, 3 tram station after Alexanderplatz. Receptionist can't speak English.
Close to the city center, very clean and there's a qebap shop around the corner :-)
One word: Fleas
Very good and rich breakfast, thank u ! ! ! Noise fm next room..
it was very clean. it is more like a hostel than a hotel. the reception closes at 6pm so if you are planning on arriving after that, make sure to let them know. also, they would not let us keep our luggage there after 4pm on the day we departed, which was kind of inconvenient.
It was close to the city
easy in all aspects
Clean. Comfortable beds. Toilets on landing, dated interior (~30 years old?), very early last check in, difficult to reach hotel staff, expensive for what it was (barely more than a youth hostel). I wouldn't actively discourage anyone from staying here, there are just cheaper and nicer places to stay in Berlin.
Big room, accommodating staff, very clean Tiny bathroom!
Loved the design of the room. Very homely yet giving the feeling of being away (suitcases as night tables for example). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location is pleasant in the middle of a beautiful area, with many cool restaurants and cafés. Close to the center, but still quiet. No
proximity to metro is undoubtfully a plus. especially nice is the direct connection with schonefeld airport (direct metro line). the room itself is big in the hotel. but these are all about pluses staff is not the most friendly one. if you are trying to find your way around, don't expect too much by asking the guys at the restaurant.overall, i must say, the hotel made some damn nice pictures to put on the website, the place looks much more shabby than what the impression is from the site. there is no phone in the room and you can hardly fit in what is supposed to be a bathroom - you have to jump over the toilett to get to the shower. the hotel is good for 'bed' purposes (not even a breakfast), but my feeling is that for a bed type of a hotel the prices are high
it was a large room with nice and interesting furniture and decoration. bathroom was new and with tub.
Conveniently located with good local connections S/U-Bahn. Plentiful breakfast buffet offered as well as bar and restaurant facilities. Pleasant service given. This was my second stay at S.S&R.
Location. It is quite new. They do not have a reception and they close at midnight. If you are arriving late, remember to call and tell your arrival time. They will wait.
Once we were moved to a reasonably sized room the accomodation was satisfactory. This is not really a hotel - it has no reception, no phone in the rooms and no room service. The hotel charges for extra or replacement towels. It was really overpriced considering it is basically apartments above a bar.
Different, modern and designer. A lot of thought has gone into the rooms. Very nice staff - extremely helpful. Even packed me a lunch! Might not suit everyone since you cannot 'ring' down to a reception per se. However, the model really worked for us and we loved the cocktail bar cum reception area. Rooms and bathrooms were fabulous
Good location in heart of Prenzlauerberg, lots of restuarants cafes etc nearby; easy U-bahn tram and bus access. Restaurant lounge and reception are just one big room, so always people about, friendly atmosphere and pleasant staff. Rooms are in one or more apartment buildings separate from the building the reception is in, in the same street a few doors away. Good wifi in reception, none in rooms. Good breakfast. I didn't like the location of my particular room, on the ground floor adjacent the entrance/exit - too noisy. The hotel is expensive for what it is (I paid 62 euros/night inc breakfast)
Good location, nice staff, clean rooms. The room could have been a bit more comfortable.
Location was good, room was clean, comfortable and quiet and the staff were helpful. A bar would be nice.
Very nice breakfast! It was very clean! There was no aircondition in the room!! There was also a lot of noise from traffic below!
The staff is extremely warm and helpful. The rooms are simple, clean, and quiet. The hotel is a little off the beaten track (not near an U-Bahn stop), however, the M4 and M10 trams are just one block over in either direction and are just as convenient--less than 10 minutes to Alexander Platz.
The atmosphere, availability of staff, room was perfectly adequate That breakfast is an additional charge and that I was charged 20% more than others staying at the same time. Advice: book by phone, not online.
clean and pretty. San Marco restaurant in front of the street is good value for money
That even though the rooms were small, they had connecting doors so a family could stay together. It was on a busy road so it was quite noisy.
central in Prenzlauer Berg, close to alexanderplatz, Small hotel. Nice staff. Nice rooms air conditioning will be nice. There was very hot in our room (street side). no free wi-fi. breakfest - 6 euro in hotel / 7 euro at very nice bars on hufelandstrasse (200m) - your choice
New hotel, clean, reasonable price, come and go anytime of the day, Internet access at the reception. Wireless Internet in the rooms not free.
the hotel is very quiet the view wasn't very attrative
the location ande the service
The position of the apartment in Choriner Strasse, very close to Kastanien Alee, the most cool shopping street in Berlin. The apartment was also very close to the metro station, there's a LIDL at the corner where you can buy everything for cheap prices. maybe the fact that the apartment is at the fourth floor without elevator; that could be a problem if traveling with big baggages.
Spacious, bright, well located, fair price Badly equiped shower (head, curtain), no radio, no toaster
it felt like i had my own appartment in Berlin, like it was my place! Also very very quiet and excellent beds.
Close to the S-Bahn Station. 20 minutes walking to the Velodrom
The hotel is very conveniently located, transport-wise and also when it comes to bars and restaurants. The street it is on is very quiet, the rooms and communal areas are very clean and tidy. The ownerwas very helpful and friendly and happily provided information about nice and trendy bars in the area. The room was a bit small and scarcely furnished; however, perfectly clean.
Very friendly staff, clean and nice rooms. Although the bathrooms are shared there are three of them so it is not a problem. Nice location, close to train station. Breakfast is not included but in Berlin there is basically a bakery on every corner so that's not really a problem. Also, there is a kitchen with a refrigerator and a coffee machine.
It was easy to access, nice rooms, good prices and service. No problems
Very approachable, friendly and helpful, Can't recommend highly enough
The hotel was very clean and tidy throughout; the room was cozy; everything was there. Very very nice.
Great location, the flat at Choriner strasse was extremely good value - but the one at Neurathstrasse was not so great. Fine decoration style, cool staff, clean The interior of flat at Neuratstrasse
It was very quiet inside the pension and in the surroundings. The most appreciated was to have not more than +22C degrees in our room when it was almost +40C outside (there was no conditioner but the room stayed cool anyway), the fridge was very useful too as cold drinks were just necessary. I loved a small kitchen in the room. It's especially comfortable if you travel with kids I believe. Maybe it was not hotel's location but bad luck. The pension is located not far from Schönhauser Alle metro station which one together with the next one towards the center of Berlin were under renovation until the 11th of November 2010. It was not comfortable to wait for substitute busses and then change for metro especially as the busses were out of traffic at times. We had to pay too much for the taxi rides within our stay. All the trips from the hotel took too much time every time because S-Bahn didn't help for destinations we took. This location next to Mauer park is in general great for those who want to relax and hang out in bars and restaurants in Prenzlauer Berg, it's a bit too far from everything if you want to go sight seeing
Very good location, close to U and S Bahn. Huge bathroom, good kitchen facilities etc. You could really set up base there for a while and be self-sufficient. The cost appeared to be reasonable. The financial and booking arrangements were awkward. Michael wanted half the total cost in advance including part of a cleaning fee. This involved me sending 48 euros to a specified account in Germany. I had to pay $20 Australian to my bank as an additional fee . Michael emailed back saying 36 euros had arrived. When I arrived in Berlin, I rang him on his mobile as requested and found my way to the Pension which is in a bright orange building clearly labelled. He wasn't there and arrived about 30 minutes later after I had rung every bell, knocked on every door and made enquiries of everyone around. He could not explain the missing 12 euros, trying to shift the blame on to my bank. I like the booking.com approach and this was an aberratio
It is in one of the best part of Berlin, much Cafè and Restaurant, Pub.It's also not noisy. Rooms are clean and cool. The owner is very helpful. S-Bahn and U-Bahn five to ten minutes away. Very good!
Pension Micheal is located in one of the most central area of Berlin. In the area there are many restaurants, bars and pubs. Mosty not german. The payment must be done in advance via a bank transfer to the Pension's owner (he is very funny and pleasent!!). The room is for 2 people.
Location: very close to Mauer Park where there is a lively flea market on Sundays; also close to many bars and restaurants in the Prenzlauer Berg district. This is definitely one of the nicest areas in Berlin if you like to enjoy a drink and food in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. The room was clean and spacious, and the private bathroom and kitchen are an extra luxury that is not always available in this price category. Noise: the rooms face the inner garden of an apartment complex, where every sound seemed to be enhanced ten times. We were woken up early every morning from the noise. So: excellent location for people that want to get up early for full-day sightseeing etc., but less ideal for those that want to enjoy the Berlin nightlife and sleep-in.
Mr Grobler is a great person. The appartments are clean and calm. I don't regret any euros :) Don't hesitate anymore !
Very clean, quiet, tv.... Shame I couldn't reserved rooms with credit card....He only takes cash payment.....
decent location, cheap construction work going on right outside my first floor window at 8am every day, a shower whose hot water only seemed to last for about 2 minutes.
Room quite clean except for carpet, which was quite dirty. Quiet location away from street noise. Did not know key could only be picked up during certain hours and that no one was around to answer questions except during certain hours. Doors don't keep out sound from within hotel; happily, very quiet guests. Noisy guests would be a big problem. Very poor ventilation in hall -- someone somewhere was smoking, smoke all gathered at end of hall and right next to head of bed, so I got to smoke along. Finally stuffed extra blanket in door crack to help problem.
Room looked nothing like website photographs, person at desk didn't seem to have a booking when we arrived. Not sure your website has a working link with the pension. Overall it was a poor experience. For £200 I expect to feel more welcome and cared for.
