In the day time the staff was nice and friendly and helpful. The rooms were larger than expected and the bathrooms were also clean. The hostal was difficult to find in the first place. It was not clear on Booking.com how far outside the city of Madrid this hostal was. We arrived and it was close to a 45 minute journey into Madrid from Hostal Welcome. There was also no places near to eat or relax especially since the restaurant close by closed at odd hours. Also the blankets on the beds seemed to not have been washed for a long time.
reception 24 hours It is too far away from the city, not easy to reach at night. in the room area there is a lot of noise, and there's no one controlling this
nothing the price was listed on a big 13.90 euro a night and through your web site it cost me. $100.53 a night. I am very sad...... And will think twice before booking with your CO again.
Other guests made too much noise until 02:30 AM, including whistles. The bathroom was not cleaned during the two days. Was charged for 1 more day of my credit card, but I think this will be resolved peacefully.
I liked receiving breakfast tickets that I could just give to the restaurant that was attached to the Hostal. It was hard to locate the Hostal since we arrived in Madrid at 10 pm and the information centers were closed. It would be extremely nice if the hostal included public transit directions from the metro system. Even if it just said to start from the closest metro stop at least all travelling by train, bus, or plane could get themselves to that metro line. Also, I inquired about traveling with a baby and wanted a crib, but that was unavailable the 1st night. That made the 1st night stay rather difficult.
The price... Yes...at booking the use of credit cards is only to ensure tha you respect the reservation. I used a credit card that i didn't want charged, and the hostal charged it without my authorisation.
Nice accommodations, friendly people staying there, clean, well-taken care of I had arrived a day early and told the receptionist that I had a reservation for the following night, but needed a room for tonight as well. We gave him our identification and asked twice to make sure that he had found the reservation for the following night as well and he said yes. But, in the end I was charged on my credit card as a no show, on top of the two nights I had paid in cash upon arrival. Good thing I checked my credit card statement and went to the reception desk. In the end, I was refunded for the extra charge, but only after I was told that the first receptionist never found my reservation, photocopied my passport and put the reservation under my roommates name and that it was pretty much my fault that I was charged.
